AS Datel as a member of the Estonian ICT Cluster had the opportunity to participate in the 5th Conference of Partnerships between German and African Municipalities in Dresden from 20 to 22 September 2022.
At the geographic information systems (GIS) workshop Aimo Kõva from AS Datel introduced the fields where geodata could be used and beneficial – cadastre, utilities, statistics, tourism, disaster prevention, etc. The workshop was carried out in cooperation with Patrick Bühler from geoinformation department in Sindelfingen municipality, Germany. 

Local municipalities from all over Africa like Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Zimbabwe, etc. and Germany (Berlin etc.) participated in the workshop and the most important questions raised by them were: what is the role of local municipalities to stress the importance of using, sharing data (to ensure mainstreaming the GIS data in all areas on the national level) and what are the data collection and processing tools for planning purposes.
