Datel Set to Launch Innovative Space-Based Solution to Combat Illegal Construction
In a groundbreaking collaboration with the European Space Agency, Datel AS, a leading Estonian IT company, has unveiled its latest service under development – the "Illegal Construction Detector." This web application utilizes satellite data to identify and monitor unauthorized construction activities in sparsely populated areas across Europe, aiming to alleviate the administrative burden on local governments and promote environmental sustainability.
Datel contributed to the publication of orthophotos on the Geoportal of the Estonian Land Board
The geoinformation systems team at Datel played an important role in releasing the 2023 orthophotos on the Geoportal of the Estonian Land Board.
The Land Board conducts aerial photography every year. The aerial surveying flights serve as a crucial means of gathering essential data for the country. This data enables the updating of Estonia's topographical maps, as well as the information stored in spatial data registers and map services.
New member in our Space team- Jörgen Laumets, Head of Asia & Oceania
In 2018, in collaboration with the European Space Agency, we launched Sille.Space- an international Early Warning System for infrastructure monitoring, available anywhere in the world. October and November have been very good months for our Space team.

Fujitsu TechCommunity Workshop 2023
From October 10th to 12th, Datel's IT Sales Manager, Kaido Kivilo, and Server Solutions Expert, Levar Mikkiver, attended the Fujitsu TechCommunity Workshop in Dubrovnik. This international tech seminar gathered hundreds of Fujitsu partners from across Europe. During networking sessions with Fujitsu innovation leaders various topics were explored, including the latest tech developments and Fujitsu's vision of the future.
Datel is a long-term cooperation partner with Fujitsu. In partnership with Fujitsu, we have successfully implemented Japanese ICT technologies to create various solutions for both business and government sector clients. Datel is the official service partner of Fujitsu IT equipment in the Estonian market.
Space technology helps the City of Tallinn save money
The City of Tallinn successfully used the Sille.Space early warning system developed by Datel to analyze its network of height benchmarks.

“Sille.Space allows the Geodesy and Land Management Unit in Tallinn’s Urban Planning Department to make well-informed decisions about which parts of the height benchmarks need re-leveling. It also enables us to avoid unnecessary and large-scale engineering tasks which in turn also helps to more accurately schedule tasks ahead. – This allows us to save hundreds of thousands in costs.”
In the updated Estonian 3D twin, you can see buildings rising in the neighborhood
The software was developed by Datel's software development team.
"In living environment planning, spatial data is the basis for making better decisions, and their visualization should not be underestimated. The 3D twin is an important helper for this, which brings together different types of spatial data in one view, gives them a context, and thus makes them more understandable for all of us," said Ivo Jaanisoo, Deputy Secretary General for Construction at the Republic of Estonia Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
Meeting with the delegation of the Digital Governance Authority of Saudi Arabia
Datel is one of the Estonian ITL and cluster companies that had the honor to meet the delegation of the Digital Governance Authority of Saudi Arabia led by H.E Governor Ahmed Alsuwaiyan last week. Topics of digital governance were discussed. The event was organized by Enterprize Estonia.
We are developing a new e-services platform for the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority
Datel contributes to making it even easier and faster for companies to apply for business licenses issued by the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (TTJA). During the project, we will create the capacity to provide 10 agreed services. The project is part of the transfer of TTJA's service portfolio to a new e-services platform. We also migrate the data and previous versions of the economic activities included in the project from the old database to the new environment.
